Our deep-seated desire to serve the broad arts community drives us to dig deeper to find insights and actionable results from our work. In 2002, Hill Strategies created the Arts Research Monitor and the Statistical Insights on the Arts series to help all those who are interested in the arts access information relevant to:

arts and culture management;
advocacy;
business, strategic and career planning;
communications;
policy making; and
program design.

Hill Strategies' President and founder, Kelly Hill, has over 13 years of experience in arts research. He has a Master's degree in Political Science from the University of Western Ontario and a Bachelor's degree in Economics from Université Laval in Québec City. He is also fluently bilingual (English / French).

Our company's experience and expertise include qualitative and quantitative research into various sectors of the arts, including:

art galleries;
artist-run centres;
dance;
documentary film;
festivals;
media arts;
music;
reading and writing; and
theatre and theatre for young people.

Some of the research topics we have covered include:

artists' earnings;
arts education;
arts funding and arts organization finances;
consumer and government spending on the arts;
creative classes and creative cities;
cultural tourism;
demographics of arts attendees, volunteers and donors;
economic impact of the arts; and
the arts and the quality of life.

Please see the Resources section of our website for more information on our research reports.
