Call for two no-fee presentations in 2009-10
Expressions of interest by Oct. 15

As part of the Statistical Insights on the Arts and Arts Research Monitor series, Kelly Hill will conduct two presentations in 2009-10 for no speaking / preparation fee. The speaking fee (covering preparation time) is funded by the Department of Canadian Heritage, the Canada Council for the Arts and the Ontario Arts Council in conjunction with funding for the Statistical Insights on the Arts series and the Arts Research Monitor.

Presenting organizations must pay for travel and accommodation expenses related to attending the event.

Priority will be given to presentations based on the findings from current or upcoming Statistical Insights on the Arts reports, including topics such as:

·         Artists in Canada, the Provinces and Territories (based on two reports from early 2009).

·         Artists in Large Cities (report to be released in September 2009).

·         Artists in Small and Rural Municipalities (planned report for December 2009; presentations January 2010 or later).

·         Individual Donors and Volunteers in the Cultural Sector (planned report for early 2010; presentations in March only).

Other priorities for the no-fee presentations include:

·         presentations with national (or at least regional) impact;

·         supporting artists, arts organizations and associations by providing them with up-to-date information on the arts sector;

·         reaching business groups, politicians and other “decision-makers” who want more information about the arts and culture in communities; and

·         conducting presentations in various parts of the country.

We are seeking expressions of interest for two “no-fee” presentations between November 2009 and March 31, 2010. The two no-fee presentations will be chosen by Hill Strategies, the Department of Canadian Heritage, the Canada Council for the Arts and the Ontario Arts Council.

Please send your expression of interest, along with the following information, via email to info@hillstrategies.com by 5 PM Eastern time on October 15, 2009:

·         Name and date of meeting / conference / event

·         Session information (keynote or workshop? length?)

·         Expected number of attendees

·         Potential impacts of the presentation (i.e., what you expect delegates to take away from the session)

Presentations can be conducted in English, French or in both official languages.
