 Volunteers in Arts and Culture Organizations in Canada in 2007
Canadian arts and culture organizations rely on volunteers to fulfill many roles. This report shows that 698,000 Canadians age 15 or older volunteered 73.5 million hours in arts and culture organizations in 2007. The 73.5 million hours volunteered in arts and culture organizations is equivalent to about 38,000 full-time, full-year jobs, valued at about $1.1 billion.
 
 Individual Donors to Arts and Culture Organizations in Canada in 2007
The report indicates that 759,000 cultural donors gave a total of about $101 million to arts and culture organizations in 2007. This represents 1.0% of financial donations to all types of non-profit organizations in Canada.
 
 Artists in Small and Rural Municipalities in Canada
One-quarter of the 140,000 artists in Canada reside in small and rural municipalities (36,500 artists, or 26%). This is almost exactly the same number of artists that reside in the cities of Toronto and Montreal combined (35,700). West Bolton (Quebec), Cape Dorset (Nunavut), Denman and Hornby Islands (BC) top the list.
 
 Artists in Large Canadian Cities

This report provides an analysis of artists residing in 93 large Canadian cities, including statistics concerning the number of artists, artists’ earnings, and trends between 1991 and 2006. Overall, 103,500 artists reside in the 93 large cities included in the study (cities with a population of 50,000 or more).
